The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) on April 19 informed most of its members that it is making available some of its ebook collections free to paid members. IEEE is the world’s largest professional association.

By offering this gesture, IEEE has provided a platform for anyone that likes technical books to join. Simply, IEEE is offering value to membership. People cannot complain that IEEE does not offer anything beyond conference reduced prices.

There has been a problem especially for those that are working. There see no reason to pay. When your company pays your IEEE xplore subscription and registers you for conferences, there seems to be no reason to personally join IEEE. Not anymore, if you join, you get to read free some of the best technical ebooks.

Your office subscription cannot give you access to these ebooks. I think it is a great idea from IEEE.

I have checked my account and the titles are relevant, new and on-time.

Join and enjoy great technical books.

It’s unfortunate so many books on that list (“ieee ebook list” above) are not free.

    I don’t know what’s up with that.
